It’s another windy day in Fort Collins, the streets are relatively quiet as the day winds down. Drake Zimmerman on the other hand is anything but quiet. He quickly changes between being on the phone with clients and subscribers. Zimmerman works primarily as a publisher for Colorado Life Magazine in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Communication is key to this job in the journalism industry. Communicating between editors and writers sometimes even acting in those positions. Even though most of the time he spends communicating with subscribers of Colorado Life and writers of the magazines.

Thank you for covering a career in publishing for your professional profile story. I have always had an interest in publishing, and your interview with Mr. Zimmerman shed some light into the industry. I enjoyed reading about his experience, first hand, and appreciate his insights–especially the bit about the necessity in building relationships to be successful. I agree with Mr. Zimmerman in that even though publishing has declined over the years, there will always, most likely, be a need for the career. Even though book publishing may be diminishing because of digital platforms, it also indicates a shift in demand from physical books to online reading material. Ultimately, I do hope that demand can once again be on the rise, so that more books can also be produced for the avid reader. Again, thank you for the read!
